The Book Arts Center's on-campus staff includes the director, Richard Kegler; the Victor Hammer Fellow, Leah Mackin; and adjunct faculty. The Victor Hammer Fellowship, established in , is a two-year fellowship that brings a talented, emerging book artist to Wells College for the purpose of sharing his or her expertise and love of books with students. Book Arts' Meditation Saturdays Visual Mindfulness Series seeks to immerse participants in a deep exploration of the art work on view in our Gallery through meditation and discussion. Each technique invites us to use our senses whether it be listening, looking, movement, or stillness. There are many ways to enter into meditation other than.

The Master of Fine Arts in the Book Arts requires a minimum of 60 semester hours of credit and includes a thesis project. The required 60 semester hours include at least 30 hours in core courses, in scholarly inquiry and material analysis courses, and in workshops and outside credits. 30 hours are Studio Practice Electives, open-ended electives, and thesis hours. Book Arts. Our Paper and Book Arts Department offers both traditional and explorative classes at all levels in papermaking, bookbinding, decorative paper techniques and letterpress printing. Papermaking and Book Arts classes are held in the Picante Paper and Book Arts Studios, located on the second floor of the Santikos Building.
